91 Astro van left back door handle is broken. How do I get it open without cutting up the inside door panel?

unfortunately the only way is to get inside the vehicle and with a non marring tool/or a large flat bladed screw driver.....pry the interior panel away from the door at the latch location....just enough to reach your hand inside or a couple of fingers and pull the latch rod to open the door--its best to wear thin pair of gloves to keep from being cut...........good luck.
