Xbox 360 vs playstaion 3?

Looking at getting 1 of the 2. Try to fig out the diffrent in them. I have both old playstion 2 games and some xbox games. And would it be worth it to get used or referb or just get new? What makes 1 so better over the other. I can only afford to get 1 of them. So please help me out thanks.
